April is National Adopt A Greyhound Month

Did you know that April is adopt a Greyhound month?
Greyhounds are a marvelous breed, and can make a wonderful addition to any home, they are gentle, intelligent and of course, beautiful.

Since this is Adopt a Greyhound month, I did a little research on the breed. Here is what i found out: contrary to popular belief, a Greyhound does not need huge amounts of exercise. People think that because they were bred for racing purposes, they need to run daily to be happy. This is not the case. With racing, they were bred to sprint, not for endurance - that is the difference.
Like any breed, they do need to be kept occupied, or can become bored. Greyhounds are very loyal to their owners and there are plenty of places where you can even adopt a retired racing Greyhound! If your in Canada, and interested in adopting a retired pup, check out this site I found: GRA Canada
