Yes, April is National Pet Month, but what is the point of it all?
Basically for the month of April, we are to celebrate the benefits that pets bring into our lives, and of course the benefits that we bring into our pets lives.
What kind of things can we do to celebrate National Pet Month?
Here are just a few ideas I came up with for the month of April :
- Make a homemade treats goal for the month - rather than purchasing treats, set aside a day or two to make up a few batches of some simple homemade treats!
- Try finding a few new routes for walk time! Dogs love to explore new places, do a new route each week.
- Take up hiking! For the month of April, find some different places to discover with your dog
- Spend some time training. Explore a few different tricks or training techniques, such as nose work, hide and seek with treats etc...
- Have a spa day! Whether it's at home or a groomer, treat your pet to a fun spa!
- Foster a pet in need
- Donate to a local shelter
Today's post has been brought to you by The Pet Parade, Flashback Friday, and the A to Z challenge.
For those of you who have not heard of the A to Z challenge, it is a month long challenge for April in the blogging community. Every day (except Sundays) is a different letter of the alphabet.
Today's letter is C.

Since this is National Pet Month and not National "dog" month, I thought I would share a flashback photo of one of my cats, and tie in the A to Z challenge as well.
C is for my beautiful cats.
My cat Winter, and my husky Lexus, are the best of friends. I can't tell you how many photos I have like this where they are laying together, getting all snugly!

DeleteI think Winter isn't just snuggling - he's lying on your dog!
ReplyDeletehahaha ok ok you got me. He tackled poor Lexus and then fell asleep on her hahaha!!!
DeleteMy cats are loving the idea of homemade treats! That usually means that I cook up some meat (like bacon) and we enjoy it together. Cinco and Manna would also like to add that they think it is appropriate to celebrate National Pet Month with family naps :)

DeleteOn account of my sore leg, I didn't get to outside much in March. I'm hopin' that April will bring lots of sunshine and a chance to enjoy 'em outside.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
Aw I hope so too Niss!
DeleteAll great ideas! I need to make some homemade treats for sure. I LOVE the photo of Winter and Lexus! Now I have photos of mine lying next to each other, but I'm pretty sure I don't have any with a cat on top of a dog! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
hahaha thanks!!! Winter does that all the time, but Lexus loves it! They always fall asleep like that!
DeleteThanks for spreading the word on National Pet Month!
ReplyDeleteNp! Have a great weekend!

DeleteAwww, I’m celebrating National Pet Month by featuring an adoptable cat every day of the month or at least from A-Z.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea!!!
DeleteHuskies are one of the few dog breeds I enjoy. Love cats, though!

ReplyDeleteAw thanks Sav! Yea they really do :) I am thankful for that.
DeleteExcellent ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove the pic of Winter and Lexus - so darling!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorothy!
DeleteHappy National Pet Month to you & the pack! Great ideas to celebrate this special month. My favorite is to foster a pet in need. Fostering saves lives in many ways, and your own pets will have a new playmate for awhile! My dogs love when new foster dogs come to play with them.
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Exactly!! I think fostering a pet is definitely one of the best ways to help pets out there who truly need it!
DeleteWe celebrate every single day. MOL
ReplyDeleteWe do too, but it's nice to have some new ideas to go by :)
DeleteWinter and Lexus are so sweet! I also love the other pic with you and your other pup. Happy National Pet Month! We pet moms and dad of course celebrate all year long but it is good for it to be recognized ALL over. Maybe it will motivate someone to do something extra for their pet! And then continue it day after day because they loved it so much...paws crossed for pets every where!
ReplyDeleteYou make a fabulous point! If I can accomplish to inspire at least one person to get out there and do something new with their pet, then job well done! And thanks :)
