It would be on my list for sure! They have crazy - stressful jobs, which made them a perfect target for a University of Buffalo study on how dogs affect blood pressure in humans.
In the study, the head researcher, Dr. Karen Allen, surveyed 48 stockbrokers who were all being treated with blood pressure medication. She randomly selected half of them to incorporate a dog into their daily routine.
The team found a lot of awesome stuff, but to make a long story short, she found that interacting with a dog actually helped to lower blood pressure more than physician - prescribed medication.
And that's not the way your dogs adding years to your life. Here are 22 other ways your dog can make you a healthier human being. If you would like to read more of the juicy scientific details, you can sink your canines into them here.

DeleteDefinitely most of those for us. Have a tremendous Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Wonderful :) Happy Thursday!
DeleteI think having a pet DOES lower the humans' blood pressure..........this has been said of dogs and cats and I'm sure it's true with any pet.......we refocus our attention away from whatever worries we may have and take comfort from petting/playing/hugging/enjoying our pets. We can tell them our troubles and problems and they listen (unlike our human companions sometimes!). It's a WIN/WIN!!!
ReplyDeletePam
It is definitely a win win!
DeleteNice infographic. We know pets are healthy for a myriad of reasons.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma :)

DeleteMom says some of my antics raise her blood pressure, BOL! I think I am a good listener and mom agrees with that!
ReplyDeleteI can agree with that one too! But the goods outweigh the bads tho!
DeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I know I help my Humans keep their blood pressure under control. I keep them exercised and make them pat me regularly.
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Exactly! My huskies and kitties do the same!
DeleteI bet I would have gained 5 pounds over the winter if not for the dogs. They were (are) the only thing that has gotten me out the door to spend any time outside this frigid winter! Even though I didn't do the strenuous exercise they did....I was at least outside moving as opposed to sitting on my butt at the computer. I think that fresh air keeps me healthier too....I had a slight cold recently, but other than that have not been sick all winter (unlike my hubby who has been sick twice).
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
I am the same way. I am not really one to go out for a jog or anything like that, but with 3 huskies, I am always outside for walks, playtime in the yard etc...
DeleteMake our peeps laugh, help get them in a good mood and EXERCISE, help them sleep better, cause we like to snuggle.
ReplyDeleteThe Mad Scots
