Today, the huskies and I are parading the #STOP22 movement on the Pet Parade.
At least 22 Veterans commit suicide every day?
A fact that simply cannot be ignored.
A fact that simply cannot be ignored.
You may be wondering what this is all about.
#STOP22 is an awareness campaign to show the U.S Military, both active and retired that they matter, and will not be forgotten.
k9s for Warriors - who trains service dogs for post 9-11 veterans - are asking for our help, to spread awareness and STOP 22. They believe that in training these dogs for military people, who suffer from PTSD, and other health and trauma issues, they can give a "new leash on life" to them.
I am standing with them, will you?
I learned about this movement from my pal Oz The Terrier.
He did a 22 second video, then challenged us to "outdo his 22."

Thanks Koda. You did a great job!
Now I look to you, let's see YOUR 22!
What can you do in 22 seconds?

Today is also Flashback Friday!
I chose to show off this photo for my flashback today.
This is my little girl with Mika and Lexus a couple of years ago.
Huskies are not generally not a protective breed, but they sure do like to keep a close eye on my little one to make sure she is safe.

Before you go, I have to offer you my apologies.
<Yesterday I did a review> on RUHA leather collars, and told you there would be a giveaway today.
I was waiting for the company to email me back with details, and I haven't heard back yet.
I cannot run the giveaway without the details, so it has been postponed for just a day or two, so please stay tuned, and I hope you can accept my sincerest apologies.
Link up with today's blog hops below.
Mash the two hops together, and get creative!

That is a very sad statistic for our veterans. A fact that can not be ignored. They definitely do not get the credit that they deserve!
ReplyDeleteNo they don't! And they could definitely use a step in the right direction.
DeleteWow! That is an incredible statistic. Bentley and I will try to come up with our 22. Hmmmm...
DeleteDitto JP above we so agree. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Thanks Molly, happy Friday!
DeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteMy Humans are from the generation where serving was not an option. All the male parents served and all the brothers served and the sons served. All served in combat in various wars. Fortunately all are well and healthy.
My Human remembers the darkest of times...when troops traveling in the U.S. were told NOT to wear their uniforms off the bases. It was during Vietnam and the peace movement. Troops were treated as the enemy. But if you were drafted you had no choice.
Prior to that, troops coming home from Korea were not welcomed by the veterans groups because it was called a "police action", not a war. We seem to have a history of ignoring those who served to keep us free.
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Yes and hopefully soon enough, we can stop making history repeat itself.
DeleteAroooooooo, Huskies! Thank you for accepting my challenge to Outdo my 22! It was perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Oz! And thank you for bringing this to my attention. I hope I have got some more people involved!!!
DeleteA dog means happiness for most people.
ReplyDeleteYes it does :)
DeleteIt' so sad to hear how many people are struggling with depression and I hope that programs like that can help. I am visiting from blog paws and hope that you stop my blog as well at http://www.portraits-by-nc.com/blogs
ReplyDeleteI sure will :) Welcome to our blog
DeleteThank you for sharing this cause. Sad indeed, thanks to all the military personal and hopes that they know we care.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is definitely sad. And movements like this definitely can help, along with those service dogs :)
DeleteIt's extremely sad there needs to be such a program, but it sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, but we are all here to help
DeleteWhat a horribly truth, amazing there are programs aiming to help.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank dog for them!
DeleteThank you for sharing this movement - I'm such a supporter of service dogs for veterans. It's such a nice way to provide something for those who have given so much for us. I truly hope the VA's study on the impact of PTSD service dogs is completed soon so those that wish to apply for a service dog can't get some much needed financial support.
ReplyDeleteYour very welcome. I am a huge supported of this as well. I think what they do is just fantastic!
DeleteGo, Koda! What a great contribution to that cause. Veterans deserve so much more than what they get.
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
Thanks Jan!
DeleteThey definitely do!
Did not know about the #STOP22. We will find a way to support. And those are some very responsible babysitters 😽
ReplyDeletePawsome! They accept any kind of social media support. Even just a photo showing your 22, using the #'s I posted above will work just fine!!
DeleteYes, they are fabulous babysitters!!
What a wonderful idea and well worth supporting!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely!
DeleteThis is a great initiative and one that our pack fully supports. I did not know about the #STOP22. Very nice video!
ReplyDeleteThanks my K9 pals!!
DeleteGreat video! We saw and accepted the challenge from Oz, too. Such important work K9s for Warriors do. My dad was a U.S. Army WWII veteran (Big Red One & Rainbow Divs), and we so support our military and veterans. Great video! That's some fast snow eating! Love your Flashback photo - so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Dorothy! This is such a great cause to support!
DeleteK9's for Warriors is such a great organization, I really believe in what they do for our Veterans, dogs can make such a difference in a person's life, especially if that person is suffering inside. It's a terrible fact that many of our bravest take their own precious lives, that fact shouldn't be ignored. Great job on the video! I'm happy to help spread the word about STOP22
